This super mall has specific 10 brands, so the super-mall assigns a Major value of 1 through 10 to recognize beacons assigned to a particular brand. Hence, there are now 10 group of beacons with an assigned major value of 1,2,3,4...10. Now let’s say there are 100 products under particular brand; all brands are assigned iBeacons to deliver unique information about each product, so to distinguish between each iBeacon, minor value is used. So, there are now 10 groups with 100 iBeacon each and each iBeacon is assigned a minor value of 1 through 100. Technical details Bluetooth low energy device works in an advertisement mode to notify nearby devices about their presence. Apple has defined its fix format followed by variable UUID, and a major, a minor pair. For example:- fb0b57a2-8228-44 cd-913a-94a122ba1206 Major 1 Minor 2; where fb0b57a2-8228-44 cd-913a-94a122ba1206is the UUID. Minor and Major are unsigned integer values between 0 and 65535.
